TOP

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. IS THERE A CLASS LIST?
    1. Original Tour or Tens: No. There is no official class list. Some people have posted class lists THEY took. But there is NO official class list.
    2. Instructor Tours: Yes.  You must follow the official class list to earn that star.
  2. WHAT IS THE TIME LIMIT? There is no time limit. Just NO BREAKS!
  3. NO BREAKS? WHAT IF I HAVE TO PEE? First off… go before you start riding. Second, do NOT wear a diaper. Third, DO NOT PEE ON YOUR BIKE. If you have to pee, we understand these sorts of things. Just don’t go take a breather or abuse this in other ways. Ultimately this is a personal journey, and if you cheat, you are only cheating yourself.
  4. CAN I SUBSTITUTE SOME INSTRUCTORS FOR OTHERS AS LONG AS I STILL RIDE FOR 3 HOURS? No. No substitutions whatsoever. The point of this ride is a “dim sum” of every instructor. Not just 3-hours. Can’t have a tour unless there’s something you’re touring…
  5. WHAT IF I FEEL DIZZY OR “OFF? STOP IMMEDIATELY! You can always restart some other time. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTH!
  6. HOW SHOULD I PREPARE? First off, don’t try this if you are already dehydrated (dark / strong urine). Try to get a good night’s sleep the night before. Have a potassium source handy (bananas are PERFECT), have electrolytes ready (Gatorade, Powerade, Mio Sport, etc.). Have 1oz. of water FOR EVERY 2lbs OF BODYWEIGHT YOU HAVE + one extra bottle just in case. During the course of this, drink all of those 1oz per 2lbs. If you feel thirsty… you aren’t drinking enough.
  7. WILL I GET A BADGE ON MY PELOTON ACCOUNT? No. This is NOT an officially sanctioned event. Instead, this is a side challenge by a community of badasses. After you complete the challenge you will receive a badge on an image of your choice to use as your profile photo on your Peloton account (and any other account of your choice).
  8. WHAT DO I DO AFTER I COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE? Go to the Google form ( https://forms.gle/foey42Y7ZM85emCN6 ). Fill out the entire form so we can add you to the roster and generate your badge.
  9. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “PROOF”? It’s simple really. Just take a screen shot using the app of your workout history for this challenge. You may upload multiple screenshots, but some are using a collage and a single image instead. It’s up to you!
  10. WHY ISN'T MY RIDE SHOWING UP ON THE ROSTER? It takes up to 5-minutes for the roster to update.  If it's been more than 5-minutes since your submission, you most likely submitted a duplicate ride.  ALL DUPLICATES WILL BE REMOVED.  (This means BOTH the first and second rides.  We unfortunately just don't have the bandwidth to pick out the duplicates and leave the originals behind.  Nor will we have the bandwidth to notify the person who made the error in every case).  We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we urge you to pay attention to the details when submitting your rides.
  11. WHY DO I HAVE MY RIDES ON THE ROSTER, BUT THE COUNT IS OFF? Most likely, you misspelled your own name (in a lot of cases added a space after your name).  Your name must be entered exactly the same on every roster entry, else the spreadsheet thinks you're two different people.
  12. HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT RIDES TO TAKE? It’s very simple… just take one ride from each instructor available in your language. ANY ride from each instructor. My first time, I just went down each instructor alphabetically (from the “filters” drop down in the “classes” section), and then also filtered by class length.
  13. I DON’T GET IT: WHY IS JAGER OPTIONAL? Jager is optional because he does not have any English rides. If you elect to do a Jager ride, select “all” or “German” for your language. His rides will appear. Also, Irene’s 5-minute German rides become an option. If you elect NOT to do Jager, you MUST do an English ride with Irene (her shortest is a 30). So, not doing Jager actually increases your overall ride time.
  14. I CAN’T FIND ANY RIDES FOR JAGER! See above…
  15. WHAT IF MY KIDS START GOING CRAZY? BE A PARENT FIRST! You can always restart this ride. Several of us (Ty included) have had “life” happen in the middle of one of our runs at this. We stopped, and then STARTED OVER at a later day. Please do everything you can to make sure your kids are cared for by someone else during this ride. If that is not an option for you, and you need to stop to handle a situation; you will need to restart the challenge (there is no pause button).
  16. YOUR RULES SUCK, AND COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS! Well, first off, we’re sorry you feel that way. DO NOT make up your own rules. And DO NOT contradict our rules in an “advice” post. Instead, come to the admins / moderators. We have open minds, and have adjusted our rules based on your input many times. Any contradictions to our rules (or updates) should come from us… NOT YOU. Why? Because it starts drama and spawns a deluge of PMs to the Admin and Moderators that overwhelm us to the point where we can’t do our jobs. Come to us… let’s talk. If we elect to act on your advice we will post the changes, and give you credit.
  17. ISN'T TOUR DE PELO-TENS THE SAME THING AS "DEATH BY 10S?" No... not even close. Death by Tens is something from a Cody group that is 10x10 (ten, ten-minute rides). Tour de Pelo-Tens is the same as Tour de Peloton, except NO RIDE LESS THAN 10-MINUTES. (This means it's a 22x10 plus a 1x30: or 22, 10-minute rides and 1 30-minute ride). So yeah... not the same thing at all.
  18. DO YOU HAVE TO DO A REGULAR TOUR BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE TOUR DE PELO-TENS? No. You can try the pelo-tens any time you like.
  19. HOW DO I CREATE A BADGE? Please watch this video on how it is done:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/tourdepeloton/permalink/516779762541503/
  20. WHERE IS MY BADGE? There is a NEW METHOD for making your badges:
    1. Here is the link to make your own badge using facebook frames:  https://tinyurl.com/ycbaozuk
    2. On SOME DEVICES, this url is an issue.  If  so, please proceed here:  https://tinyurl.com/jl9n2op and search for "Tour de Peloton" to see the list of badges.
  21. CAN'T PEOPLE JUST USE A BADGE THEY HAVE NOT EARNED?  If someone is caught using a badge that is not regustered in the roster of warriors, they will be IMMEDIATELY BANNED from our group.  We do not tolerate stolen valor.
  22. WHY IS THERE NO TENS BADGE WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL?  Because when you do a 10s, the requirements are met for both badges, so you have earned both!
  23. WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE MY FACEBOOK PROFILE, BUT I WANT A BADGE?  Since we're using the FB frame architecture, you must use it to generate your badge.  But as soon as you do, you can always set your profile picture back to what it was, and save the image do your device.
  24. BUT I DON'T WANT TO PLACE MY OWN BADGE!  CAN'T YOU JUST DO IT FOR ME?!  Yes, we can!  Originally, we just didn't want to do it anymore (especially with 10,000 people in the group... most of which ride multiple rides a week).  If you do not want to use the FREE method to place your own badge; you can PM Aurielle Audronis (Ty's Daughter, and a Moderator of the group), and she will place your badge for you for a small fee of $5 each.
  25. I CAN'T UPLOAD IMAGES TO THE FORM: Please follow these troubleshooting steps:
    (If getting "server rejected" error)
    1) Edit the photo and save it as a new file (using lightroom, or any other free editing app)
    2) Using Chrome instead of Safari
    3) Using a computer to upload the images instead of an iPhone.
    (ANY other error)
    1) Disconnect from wifi, and use cellular data instead
    2) Do not upload at work, or on a work device
    3) Turn off any VPN or firewall on your device

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, AND ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NUTRITION / HEALTH ARE BASED ON OUR OWN EXPERIENCES. If you have any questions, please consult a doctor who knows your medical history... not facebook.

The Story of the First Tour de Peloton

The following text is from the original post in the facebook group from March 17, 2020

I JUST HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING...

You ALL are awesome. Even if you haven't done the challenge yet. Let me tell you how all of this started:

It's been a very tough year. Divorce on Valentines Day started it all. A chain of "scam" jobs (I worked in TV/Film in California for over 25-years with GREAT success (google me if you're curious), and moved to TX for my ex's career). There is no film industry in Houston. And on Feb 28th, my dad had a severe stroke.

(Funny thing is, I usually make fun of people that post these posts on OPP... but I'm gonna do it anyway. I assume I'll see this screen-shot in one of my other groups.
But they don't even know)

I felt VERY self destructive... downright despondent on my mom's birthday (3/4). So I decided to hurt myself in the healthiest way I could imagine. I thought to myself, "you know what Ty? You have refused to ride a lot of instructors. And there are others you just haven't ever done." Also, I had never ridden a ride longer than 60 (and only one of those, and only one 45).

So I sat on the bike and cued it up. Went through every instructor. No water bottle. No food (and I'm a type-1 diabetic). Just rode. I started with Alex.

The whole way I typed my thoughts out on a discord group. "Oh fuck, this instructor doesn't even have a 5" and so on.

No plan... no nothing other than to just get it out. A year worth of hell. Just to unload it all.

A year's worth of turmoil...

-Every month sweating paying rent on a 1-bedroom apartment.
-Going from making 180K+/year to not even able to get hired at an entry level job
-Thinking I'd be homeless at the beginning of every month because of not knowing how I was going to pay rent.
-Being behind on bills
-going from a credit rating over 700 down tow 453
-My son choosing to live with his mother instead of me because I took his video games away (he's old enough to choose)

There were high points too...

-An amazing best friend (Jennifer Barker)
-An amazing close group of people (the discord thing I was talking about)
-My dog

But on I rode...
every bit of it melting away with every tear

bawling like a little kid

I needed to experience the pain. The soreness. The torture

I just needed to overcome an obstacle that seemed impossible. And I did. I did it.

And then others started doing it. And Jill said "yes" when I asked her to moderate with me. And here we are... just a few days later... HUNDREDS of you. A fucking ARMY!

I watched a video today.... many videos actually of Katrina van den Brand's journey. And I relived it all. I relived 3/4/2020. My journey. And here we are together.

Every single one of you that embarks down this path... it's not easy. It's long. Someone today used the excuse to quit of "boring." But those of you that have finished know... IT IS NOT BORING.

It may be nothing but the shortest of every instructor's rides. But they add up. You get a taste of everything... but it eventually makes you full.

It fills you with pride to take this 3-hour tour. It is an accomplishment. Don't let anybody take that away from you. There may be a lot of 5-minute rides. But if someone... ANYONE complains about it? Challenge them to do it. Put up or shut up.

There is someone in another group who is notorious for saying that 5-minute rides aren't really rides. I challenged them to do it. They failed. But at least they tried, and at least they are open enough to now know how hard this challenge is.

THANK YOU ALL! Thank you for joining us in this. Together we are strong.

Together we go far

Together we are an army of warriors

We've all been to war with this challenge, and we are victorious!
